Context for Change
First, some history. When we transitioned from V1 to V2, we made a significant shift from the original 2D gameplay to a mobile player-controlled 3D game. While this evolution brought new opportunities, we know that many of you were not fully satisfied with the changes, which understandably led to frustration as the game evolved. Despite our best efforts, the current live PVP model in V2 is facing significant challenges. Issues like matchmaking difficulties, lag due to high ping across different regions, and low concurrent user numbers have made it clear that the current model is unsustainable. It’s become far more obvious over time, not just with Pegaxy, but all MMO PVP web3 games are unable to sustain enough concurrent users (CCU) to provide competitive gameplay 24/7. After extensive review of the community's sentiment and player data we recognise a change needs to happen.
To bring back the growth, the energy, the players, we need to pivot. This isn't just about minor updates or fixes to the existing gameplay—it's about transforming the Pegaxy IP to ensure it remains a respected, engaging, and financially rewarding AND sustainable game for years to come.
What to Expect in V3
Our upcoming V3 will represent a significant upgrade from the current gameplay, and it is designed with one goal in mind: to make Pegaxy a game that can stand the test of time while honoring the time, energy and money you've dedicated to the IP. Here's a look at what’s coming:
- Overview: Pegaxy is going back to where it belongs, casual gaming. Your assets still matter in V3.
- New Gameplay Mechanics: You'll start with a default Pega equipped with a mounted gun, navigating maps filled with monsters and bosses. The combat system will integrate two active skills, converted from existing Pega skills.
- Customization & Equipment: Pega NFTs can be equipped with various items like guns, wings, and tails, each enhancing your Pega's power. Using NFT skins will provide additional boosts.
- Bloodline-Based Strategy: Bosses will have attributes tied to specific Bloodlines, introducing a strategic counter mechanic where the right Pega can give you an edge in combat.
- Continued Value for Current Assets: Your Pega NFTs, hard currency, and upgrade materials will retain their value. The new system will let players log in and enjoy the updated gameplay with their existing assets—no swapping required.
- Expanded Features: A stake-to-farm mechanism, a gacha system, and a robust leaderboard system are among the features that will drive engagement and reward long-term players.
